Reason Amplifiers
Client: Reason Amplifier Company
Reason was started by amplification gurus Obeid Khan and Anthony Bonadio. They make some incredible amps so I was really excited to have the opportunity to code their new site. Our goal with this site was to create an experience as good as sitting down and playing the amps in person. My favorite section is the sounds page where you can pick a guitar and a Reason amp, choose some amp settings and hear exactly how it sounds. The site also features videos of Obeid demoing the amps which gives you a great feel for how they operate.

DivinoWineBroker.com
Client: Divino Wine Broker
Divino Wine Broker represents several Southern California wine makers and needed an online presence to highlight their brands. This project is another good example of super-clean and simple markup. The CSS is built on top of Nathan Borror's Boilerplate CSS. I had never been a huge fan of CSS frameworks but Nathan has crafted a really great reset with default screen and print styles that work amazingly well. For this site I also built a simple PHP email subscription script.

EmericaMedia.com
Client: Emerica Media
I did the markup, CSS and Flash for this site. The design was very simple and clean and I wanted to keep the code equally clean. I'm always trying to find ways to make markup as simple and concise as possible and this site was a great exercise in creating clean markup.

Internship Website and Video
Client: Bernstein-Rein Advertising
The idea we came up with for the 2008 BR Internship campaign was "Interns Make History." Think of all the great contributions interns have made in the past. Maybe Christopher Columbus' intern, or George Washington's intern or other possibly-maybe-fictional interns. The video we made is a short story about Abraham Lincoln's intern. I did the audio production, animation and designed the one-page site.

The Office – Corner Hit
Client: Myself
If you haven't watched The Office on NBC, you need to drop whatever you're doing right now and go watch some episodes. In the opening of one of the episodes, everyone is watching one of those infamous 'bouncing square' screensavers and anxiously waiting for the square to hit the very corner of the screen. I thought it was so funny that I re-created the screen saver in Flash the next day. I wanted to see if I could get it to 'go viral' so I did my own blog seeding and created a downloadable screensaver as well as a widget that people can embed on their MySpace or Facebook page. It was a big success. I received almost 40,000 unique visitors in October and November.

BeautyBrands.com
Client: Beauty Brands, Inc.
In February 2007, I took over maintenance and presentation-layer coding for this Ruby on Rails based site. My work with this site includes monthly feature updates as well as translating traditional advertising campaigns into great online campaigns.

C3 Pass-Along Thoughts
Client: C3
C3 developed a packets of month-themed postcards that they gave to vendors and clients as promotional materials. The task for this project was to translate these postcards into an effective viral online campaign. Each month, C3's mailing list would receive a link to that month's online postcard animation where they could easily send the same postcard to their friends. Instead of doing an animation with a beginning-middle-end, I decided to use Actionscript to create some type of perpetual motion in many of the cards.

Cute Will Never Be the Same
Client: Kansas City Zoo
Koalas came to the Kansas City Zoo and raised the city's bar on 'cute'. These banner ads fit in seamlessly with the television, radio, print and outdoor executions for this campaign. This campaign was really fun to work on and was a great success for the zoo.

AboveTheRestWeddings.com
Client: Above the Rest
Above the Rest is a full-service wedding and event planning company. They needed a professional and simple website to promote their services. I took this site from concept to design to development to live in record time. I love a quick turnaround!

Color Burn Photo Transition
Client: Tracy Routh Photography
The bitmap class has been one of my favorite additions to my Flash repertoire. I created this color burn photo transition for the Tracy Routh Photography home page. In addition to a nice subtle effect, the photos are pulled in via XML so it's easy to modify what photos are included in the piece.

Interactive Historical Timeline
Client: Kansas City Ballet
The Kansas City Ballet wanted an interactive piece to commemorate their 50th anniversary. This Flash piece serves as a timeline of their complete 50-year history. The content is dynamically assembled on the stage to keep it easy to edit. The big challenge with this project was to efficiently manage some relatively large bitmaps. The end result should load quickly and go easy on your processor.

HabitatShoes.com
Client: Habitat Shoe Store
I did the presentation-layer coding for this e-commerce site built with Ruby on Rails. Habitat is a locally-owned store here in Kansas City that sells amazing clothes and shoes. My role in the development of this site was to take the designer's concepts and create clean XHTML and CSS to smoothly integrate with the Rails back-end.
